The FK8 Honda Civic Type R debuted in 2017 and upon its release became the most powerful and fastest Type R ever. It retained the same engine from the FK2 but power for the JDM and EU models were bumped up to 235 kW (316 hp) although it remained the same 228 kW (306 hp) in other markets - one of those being the US, making it the first time a Type R is officially available there. A six speed transmission and LSD are standard items and it now boasts a top speed of 272 km/h (169 mph). Like all other Type Rs before it, the FK8 was built to handle well and this was well and truly proven when it set new FWD records at several tracks around the world including the famed Nurburgring Nordschleife. This record was held for two years and was only broken in 2019 by the Renault Mégane RS Trophy-R. Nonetheless, it still stands as as the latest and greatest of the Honda Civic Type R chassis and now everyone can own one of these FWD titans in 1:32 scale size!
