JDM tuning powerhouse Mine's might be most famous for their R34 GTR but they have also been known to turn out a few fast Mitsubishis such as this Evo 6. What makes Mine's cars attractive is that in addition to being high-powered, the company keeps the vehicle's drivability and civility intact. The case is no different in the Evo.
It featured a 4G63 engine that not only pumped out extra power, but was tuned to produce lots of low and mid-range torque. The stock turbocharger was swapped in favor of HKS's GT2835. Changes were made to the breathing too, with a custom titanium exhaust making the car not only more powerful, but better sounding too. A new ECU in the form of Mine's famous VX-ROM was also installed. The 4G63 retained its stock capacity and pumped out around 400hp- enough to lap Tsukuba Circuit in a minute flat.
Mine's also swapped the stock suspension shocks for Ohlins height-adjustable dampers, which is part of the company's ESTA suspension package. The front and rear stabilizer bars were also reinforced in order to keep body roll to a minimum. After all the changes, the Mine's Evo truly became a streetable race car- one that you could drive to the circuit and then drive home. It was also magnificently balanced, without the understeer typically associated with the stock car.
Fans of Mine's or of Mitsubishi's Evo platform might have even driven this in Gran Turismo or Forza. They can now also get their hands on this 1:64 scale model for a limited time!
