"Easily the best tour of our entire trip to Tokyo." - Gustavo M. (see more reviews at the bottom of this page)
You've seen Tokyo Drift, watched the YouTube videos, and read the Speedhunters articles, and now you're in Japan with a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience it all for yourself. Now you can connect directly with a friendly consultant with real local knowledge and see authentic JDM culture first hand! This experience skips the shop visits that you might see in your own time and offers maximum time at Tokyo's most popular car meet! For tours including shop visits and events, see our full list here.
Daikoku Futo PA is possibly the most famous parking area in the world, and is where many car enthusiasts from around Tokyo and Yokohama go to park, meet friends, and show off their vehicles. This highway stop situated at the bottom of an almost never ending spiral in Yokohama Bay has become an important and integral part of Japanese car culture; it symbolizes the craziness, diversity, and unique originality that makes Japan such an interesting place. On any given night it tends to be filled with JDM cars of all varieties and owners that have driven there to see and be seen. You might even see your favorite YouTube celebrity there! Our consultants are very familiar with Daikoku PA and have often been visiting and meeting people there for years. Why not have them join you and introduce you to a side of Japan that is usually inaccessible to most foreign visitors.
Although classic JDM sports cars usually take center stage, there's everything from Kei cars to the rarest European supercars. Daikoku offers all a JDM lover can ask for and more. You can usually see crazy Bosozoku, anime-inspired Itasha, and stanced VIP-style sedans all in one place. While the owners usually enjoy parking their cars next to similar ones and meet friend subgroups or clubs, everyone is welcome and respected.
Why book with us?
With one of our guides you'll get to participate in Japan's street scene with a local and fellow car enthusiast in their turbo-charged JDM car - rather than spectating from an average rental kei-car or minivan 😄. Our consultants have been featured in internationally renown publications such as Speedhunters, and each one has gone to great lengths to spend years living and breathing the local street scene in Japan. We also don't do generic shopping or sightseeing tours, with us you'll get a specialist with real in-depth knowledge built from an authentic passion for sports cars and JDM tuning. Bookings can also be rescheduled at any time for free up to 24 hours ahead in case your travel plans change.
Daikoku PA is only accessible by car and there is no access by public transport or by foot. If you have an international license you can rent a car (overnight if you want to go in the evening) but the highway system can be very difficult to navigate and GPS often lags due to the number of tall buildings and multi-layered road network. Most taxis or ubers will decline trips to Daikoku PA and if you do manage to get one you'll likely end up stranded there with no way out - especially if the police close it down quickly!
If traveling from Tokyo, you'll typically get to to see Tokyo Tower, Rainbow Bridge, and then travel along the infamous wangan line before arriving at Daikoku PA after around 40-45 minutes. Alternatively, traveling from Yokohama will allow you to get a quick look at the scenic Minato Mirai area and travel over Yokohama Bay Bridge before arriving at Daikoku PA in about 15 -20 minutes.
