Sometimes regarded as the forgotten JDM hero, the Mitsubishi GTO / 3000GT however still retains a cult fan base thanks to its exotic good looks and technological high performance - especially when in VR4 trim. In the 90s Mitsubishi was busy earning four consecutive WRC championships during so the GTO didn't see much action on the circuit, although it had some strong showings in the Japanese Super Taikyu series from 1994 to 1996.
The N1 rules of Super Taikyu had engine capacity based weight limits, which allowed the GTO to shed quite a lot of kilos and the Puma team cars ran at a reasonable 1460kg with power boosted up to 375 hp. Thanks to Best Motoring and the wonders of YouTube, we can still relive the glory days of the GTO where it often proved more than a match for its rivals such as the Skyline GTR and Toyota Supra. Scale models of this JDM legend are extremely hard to come by so don't wait to get your hands on one if you're a fan!
