Celebrating 50 years of GTR heritage, this collectors set contains four of Nissan's finest sports cars ever to roll off the factory line. The Nissan Skyline GTR redefined the JDM sportscar world in a way that no car had ever done before. These four icons of JDM automotive history come as a set in a sleek matt black finish, reminiscent of those 'stealth' cars you could find in Gran Turismo if you were lucky! We find that rather appropriate seeing as the Skyline GTR was sometimes referred to as the ultimate sports car for the "Playstation Generation" 😉.
Beginning with the R32, the GTR name was revived in 1989. Powered by a new 2,568 cc RB26DETT, it developed 206 kW (276 hp) at 6,800 rpm and 260 lb⋅ft (353 N⋅m) of torque at 4,400 rpm. All this power was put down through its advanced AWD system and had a curb weight of 1,430 kg (3,150 lb). This model GTR stunned the world by proceeding to win the JTCC Group A series championship four years in a row. The technology and performance of the R32 GTR also prompted the Australian media to nickname the GTR "Godzilla" during its dominance of the Australian Touring Car Championship.
The next addition is the R33 GTR which went on sale in 1995. The V·Spec model featured the newer ATTESA E-TS Pro all wheel drive system, which included an active limited slip differential. Sometimes seen as the unloved middle child of the series, perhaps in part to the 100kg weight increase, it still managed to top the R32 by 21 seconds around the famed Nürburgring circuit. Nissan also introduced the R33 GT-R V·Spec N1 model which was made lighter by removing the ABS, air conditioning, sound system, rear wiper, and boot carpet along with the slightly revised R33 N1 engine.
Then came the R34 Skyline GTR, V·Spec and V·Spec N1 models which were introduced in 1999. The R34 was shorter (from front to rear), and the front overhang was reduced as compared to the R33. It featured a new 5.8" LCD multifunction display which shows seven different live readings of engine and vehicle statistics such as turbocharger pressure, oil and water temperature. The Skyline GT-R became the flagship of Nissan performance, showcasing many advanced technologies including the ATTESA E-TS All-wheel drive system and the Super-HICAS four-wheel steering. It has also become incredibly popular through movies and video games such as The Fast and the Furious, Initial D, Wangan Midnight, Need for Speed, Forza, and Gran Turismo.
Following the end of R34 production in 2002, Nissan announced they would separate the GTR model from the Skyline name, creating an entirely new vehicle—though based on the same platform as the Skyline. This new car, now known simply as the Nissan GTR, debuted in 2007 in Tokyo. Introduced to consumers in 2008, it was the first GTR available worldwide, entering the North American market for the first time. The R35 GTR, although obviously different from the Skyline GTR, still share similar design features and are manufactured in the same factory.
